Passing Greenblatt's screen

Every company across SageRanks's 22 indices, tested against Greenblatt's hard limits — live, date-stamped, alphabetical. A screen, not a ranking, and not advice.

Joel Greenblatt's Magic Formula buys good businesses at cheap prices — high return on capital combined with high earnings yield. This page applies the measurable half of that bar to every company SageRanks tracks and lists the ones that clear it right now.

The hard limits

PEG < 2.0PEG above 2.0 means the earnings yield is weak — one of the Magic Formula's two pillars is missing. Below it, the price of earnings is at least defensible.

This is half the formula: the other pillar — return on capital — is weighted heavily in SageRanks's Greenblatt ranking mode but has no published hard cutoff, so it is not part of the pass/fail screen. A company here is cheap enough; whether it is also good enough is the ranking's job.
